R-U-T-shirt

Dexter is into his ABC's right now. Yesterday while I was putting him down for a nap. He points to his T-shirt. He asks me if this is an R-shirt, he responds, Nooooo! He asks me if it was a U-shirt and responds, Nooooo! Than points to it again and says its a T-shirt and responds with Yeaah!

Sunday Duds

Last year my brother Kimball went shopping for a church outfit for Dexter. We sent him again and this is what he came up with. Kimball is a good shopper. Kimball is just newly engaged as well-August 20th is his big day.
Here is Dexters new duds.

Temple Open House

We went to the Oquirah Temple open house. Very pretty. When we were done Dexter turned to us and said, "Temple again."

Joke on Pat

A few years back when Pat and Carl went out of town we painted their living room. This time we set it up so it looked like we painted their bedroom. But we just dropped off Pat's Mothers Day present.

Finally

I finally got all the Arizona trip up and posted. Such a good trip. Here is an outhouse picture from February of 2007. I am happy to report that these are no longer needed at my grandma's house. For the first time in 30 years I went to the bathroom on a flushy. Growing up I would always ask my mom, why grandma didn't have flushies. There you have it. Flushies!

Jewelry

Of course you have to stop on the side of the roads and check out the Indian Jewelry.

Dinosaur Tracks

We stopped and checked out some Dinosaur tracks. Dexter called them Dino choo choo tracks.

The Straight and Narrow Path

This road went 18 miles before it even thought about bending or turning.

Sunset and golf

We went and ventured up to where my mom's childhood home was, it is up this crazy dropoff hill. On the way back this is what we found. We pulled over and David and Curtis hit golf balls off the edge into the sunset. This was the favorite part of our trip.

I kind of felt like Frodo on Lord of the Rings here. Kind of freaky.

Water well

This is an old water well. You pump the water on the right side and it comes out the spout on the left. Luckily now there is running water. I remember as a child going up here filling up storage containers and hauling them back to my grandma's home.

Free Golf

There isn't much to do on the reservation; so you bring a bag of balls; clubs and just have at it. We wandered around and hit golf balls.

Along our golf excursion, a stampede of horses flew by us.

Just like in the movies.

Pottery

You can walk around and find broken pieces of pottery just lying around. Who knows how long it has been there. My mom says that if you remove anything from the land that bad luck follows you. One time my dad took pieces of pottery and my parents had a bucket of pieces of pottery in their house for years. A few years back my mom took that bucket of pottery back to the reservation and dumped it back home. I think she feels much better now.

Snowflake

We went to Snowflake Arizona to check out the Temple there. I have always wanted to go here, we didn't do a session but we did go check it out. I got one step closer. Hopefully next time we can go through. When I was 18 years old I went to a parade when it was announced that there would be a temple built here. At the end of the parade they had gathered all young men dressed them in white and they sang called to serve. It was just a flood of white. It was cool and I cried.

God loves golfing, why else would you build a temple on golf grounds.

Jack Rabbit Road

This is Jack Rabbit Road, we stopped at a trading post and got Curtis some moccassins.

La Posada Hotel

This is an old hotel built in the early 1900's that has been restored. It use to be the poppin place of Winslow Arizona, the main stop along the trainways. Kind of like Cars the movie-route 66 is not to far away. All the rooms are named after people that stayed there: Shirley Temple, Frank Sinatra, Johny Cash etc. I love stopping here everytime. It is so pretty.
