If there is one thing that I could do for my children, it would be to do for them what my mother did for us.  That was teaching us about our culture, where we came from, how we could have grown up and to be grateful.  It is through these little trips; that those connections are made with who they really are.    We took a trip back in April to the reservation,  just the kiddos, me and Lorraine.  It was our first trip back since our whole Phoebe experience.  These trips are the best for me to be able to re-connect, there is always a special feeling when going to visit.  I hope that my kids feel this as they grow and what I was given from my mom is passed on to them.

Lucy's blanket

Lucy wasn't feeling to good, and all the adults started teasing her.  She started to cry and the tears came.  Messani had gone into her room and got a Indian blanket for her.  She handed it to Lucy. 

I, of course am crying from this moment, but Lucy's reaction was classic. 

 "Oh, Grandma, you got me a blanket, thank you so much.  "I got a blanket"

While we were waiting in the store parking lot, Dexter thought every lady that walked out of the store was his Grandma, but it was just another Indian.  He said they have lots of Indians down here.

Dances

My Grandma and Eddie used to compete in Indian dances all over the reservation. 

She had us make copies of these gems for her. 

Pottery

I took Dexter out a ways to go hunting for pottery.  You can find broken pieces all over,  you aren't supposed to remove it from its natural state.  Crazy!

Water Pump

This is the water pump where back in they day they used to pumped their water.  I remember as a child going up and pumping water and bringing it back in huge barrells.

 The kiddos had so much fun here and just went for it.
